Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy in Medway, MA

A patient receives non-invasive shockwave therapy for wrist pain from Dr. Cliff Taylor at Taylor Family Chiropractic in Medway, MA.

You’ve tried the usual remedies, yet that shoulder or heel pain keeps coming back. When soft tissue pain refuses to heal on its own, even simple daily tasks can start to feel like a challenge.

At Taylor Family Chiropractic, we offer shockwave therapy in Medway, MA, for pain that hasn’t improved with rest or basic home care. At your first visit, we evaluate your symptoms and explain how our findings will shape your treatment plan.

What Is Shockwave Therapy?

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy uses a handheld applicator to direct acoustic pulses through the skin toward the treatment area. During treatment, you may feel rhythmic tapping or pressure as the clinician positions the applicator over the affected tissue and adjusts the intensity to your comfort level. Sessions do not involve needles or incisions, and their length varies by the area treated and your plan.

Although mild soreness may occur afterward, shockwave therapy is noninvasive and may be considered before more invasive care.

Conditions We May Treat With Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy may be considered for persistent soft tissue injuries and related concerns, including:

  • Plantar fasciitis: Sharp heel pain that flares with every step
  • Tendinitis: Inflamed tendons around major joints such as the shoulder or knee
  • Chronic muscle tension: Tight, aching areas that limit movement

Each concern responds differently, so we tailor the treatment settings to your condition.

Signs You May Want an Evaluation

Symptoms that repeatedly interfere with activity may be worth discussing with a health care provider. You may notice:

  • Stiffness: Tightness that returns shortly after activity
  • Tenderness: Sharp discomfort in one specific spot
  • Limited range of motion: Difficulty completing everyday movements

Tracking when your symptoms appear and which movements aggravate them can reveal useful patterns in your routine over time.

Dr. Cliff Taylor applies radial pulse shockwave therapy to a patient’s shoulder during treatment at Taylor Family Chiropractic.

Benefits of Shockwave Therapy

You may experience pain relief or improved function, although response and timing vary by condition. Shockwave therapy can support tissue healing and encourage circulation in the treated area. When appropriate, it may complement physical therapy or other conservative care to support your mobility and comfort during everyday activities.
